A vacation home in Costa Rei – the vacation tip for families

Sardinia is known for its beautiful beaches. Along the east coast in particular, there are numerous vacation paradises for bathing and beach enthusiasts. Costa Rei – the King’s Coast – is located in the south-east of the island, roughly a one-hour drive from the island’s capital Cagliari. Ten kilometres of white sandy beach extend between Scoglio di Peppino in the south and Capo Ferrato in the north of the bay.

Costa Rei has been a popular vacation resort for many years now. For those looking for a vacation home in Sardinia, there is a wide selection of choices there. Whether it is an inexpensive vacation flat or a luxurious villa with a pool – there is a number of choices that cater to families in particular. Small, private residential areas have grown up along the gently sloping beach that is very well-suited for children. Each one possesses its individual charm and was, of course, developed according to the island’s strict building regulations. Beach lovers will find their perfect fit in a sea-side house. This combination of beach and town proximity is especially attractive for families with small children.
However, vacationers who prefer a quiet atmosphere of tranquility will love staying at one of the seaview houses that are located on the hills of Monte Nai, The houses are still close to the beach and for the most part, offer a fabulous panoramic view of the picturesque coastline. From here, Costa Rei’s center is also just a short walk away.

Beaches, water sports and vacation fun for kids, parents and nature lovers

The reason Costa Rei is so popular is not least because it can satisfy various holiday interests. This way, the young and their elders will both be able to spend harmonious days under the Mediterranean sun. Athletic activities like beach volleyball, surfing and snorkeling are offered at the beach. An early morning run into the sunrise with the sand beneath your feet is an absolute highlight you will not forget. We also recommend going on a bike tour along the coastal road towards Villasimius – the views are spectacular.

Due to the length of the beach you will always be able to find a quiet spot in the sun away from the beach access routes and beach huts – even during peak season. And by the way: most of the Costa Rei bay is public beach. So you can just spread out your beach towel and set up your parasol anywhere you like. If you do want to trade that freedom for the amenities of lounger and sun chair rentals, you can easily switch to the marked sections.

After having spent your day in the sun and swimming in the sea, there is a good chance you will be feeling pretty hungry. A visit to one of Costa Rei’s numerous restaurants is the perfect conclusion to a beautiful vacation day. You can pick and choose between pizzerias, fish restaurants and authentic Sardinian cuisine – there is a wide variety close to the town center.

On your way home, strolling down the piazza with its sales booths, you will be captivated by the typical Italian flair of “drifting”. Back at home, the quiet starry night will offer a perfect ending for a perfect summer day spent in Sardinia. By the way: our friends and customers from “Drohne Ruhr” have created this video: we like to think it is a great way to give you a foretaste of the amazing beaches of Costa Rei.
